Call 471-6636

I farm and own land south and east of Sikeston on what we call "swift ditch." Swift ditches is the only drainage for Miner, and everything east and south of Sikeston, including the Mini-Farms area. Extensive roads, parking lots and residential and commercial developments for the last 20 to 30 years have been developed with no regard to increased drainage. Until this ditch is restored and enlarged, flooding will only get worse. In some places, junk (old sofas, ice boxes, etc.) are choking the ditch. Flooding is only going to get worse.

What happened to Chris Cannon KFVS? I've missed seeing him on the news for some time.

Chris Cannon relocated to Evansville, Ind., where he is a news anchor for a television station.

I want to SpeakOut about the woman and her little boy that got burned up. That was sad, so sad. But what about the dad? It only costs $4 or $5 for a smoke detector. Where was his responsibility and the family's responsibility. If she didn't have a smoke detector, why didn't one of them buy one for her? Why blame the guy who owned the property. He could have had one in there that could have been taken down. It's sad that something like that could happen, but where is the family's responsibility to its own family? Don't blame somebody else for your carelessness. Just stop and think who's really to blame.

I'm calling about the caller who said the lady who murdered her five children by drowning is not the same thing as abortion. Those are two totally different things. The lady killed her own kids while they looked at her in the face. Aborted babies do not look at you. These kids had already celebrated the birthdays they'd had.

I agree with the caller who said children need discipline. The caller is right. Children sometimes need a spanking. They need discipline at home also, and person should allow parents to correct their kids like that and they wouldn't have all these kids in the system.

I don't see why these service stations don't just put their gasoline up to $2 a gallon. That's what they're pulling for anyway. Put it up to $2 and leave it.
