SpeakOut 8/29

Call 471-6636

I cannot believe the mother who went on television about her son who robbed the bank. She felt the police treated him too roughly. Is she crazy? They could have shot him. Doesn't she realize the fear he had placed in the people in the bank, all the commotion and pain he caused people that day, not counting the expense that was made that day? And then she wants to say he had a head injury that he inflicted on himself. The police could have done away with him then and there if he had made one move. They knew who he was and they knew he wasn't right. That's the only thing that saved him and she says the police treated him too roughly. The City of Sikeston doesn't have the money to hire more officers that we need so badly, and then we have to spend extra money for things like this. I think this is a travesty and that woman needs help.

I called in two weeks ago to say if anyone wants to help get money to get Calvin King out of jail to contact Brenda at Movie Time. She works there and needs all the help she can get to get him out. His bond is still $75,000 and needs $7,500 to get him out. We need to pull together as a community to get him out. At least 100 people I know of said they were going to call SpeakOut in favor of Calvin, but it has never been printed. I guess you guys print whatever you want to. I guess that's why we live in America, and that sucks.

At least 99 people lied to you!

It seems small town politics never change. The story about the child molester in Mississippi County is no rumor. It's public record and available on the internet for anyone who cares to read about the charges and arraignment. We as parents have a right to be informed, or is the perpetrator being protected at the expense of the children? I guess in this county, it all depends on your name as to whether or not it is reported in the media. How sad for the innocent children.

Although we call all area police and sheriff's departments Monday through Saturday, there is no guarantee that we receive reports of all crimes.

In response to an Aug. 8 SpeakOut about the kids in Morehouse, if they would do something instead of going around doing damage to people's property, they wouldn't be "kicked around," as you say. If they had something for kids to do, they would just tear it up like they do everything. Kids are kicking the elderly people around.

This is in response to the Aug. 20 SpeakOut comment, "Dental care sought." You can go to dentists who do accept Medicaid. Contact the Medicaid office for transportation to anywhere you need to go. They will take you free of charge.

Dr. William Dillon in Sikeston does accept Medicaid patients.

This in regard to the Aug. 20 SpeakOut under "Dental care sought." Your information is totally wrong concerning Sikeston dentists accepting Medicaid. Dr. Dillon has been my dentist for many years and has seen several of my foster children who are on Medicaid. He is a kind person and is always willing to help anyone. I don't know where you got your information, but you need to check it out.

Dr. William Dillon is accepting new patients and treats patients who receive Medicaid benefits. The number is 471-4335.

I am calling about the dental care that was in the paper the other day. The truth is that doctors in Sikeston and the surrounding area won't accept Medicaid because they only get paid very little from Medicaid, but if you have insurance, they get paid a lot. Who wants to drive all the way to Marble Hill to see a dentist? That is ridiculous!
