MORLEY -- The Scott County Central Braves (15-10) survived a shootout Friday night, edging Delta's Bobcats (8-17). Senior Chris Johnson hit the big shot on the night for SCC as he drain a trey with nine second left to give the Braves a 100-97 win.

"We had people in his face," said Delta head coach Robert Stein. "I have to give him credit, it was a huge shot and he hit it."

The Bobcats had their chance to tie the game, as Luke Blattel let loose a three attempt from the corner, but it sailed wide.

Senior Terrance Williams led all scorers on the night as he dropped in 39 points for Scott County. "He carried us at times," said Scott Central coach Steve Wells. "We played an outstanding game."

Delta's Lance Kinder scored 36 points and hit six treys during the contest, three of which came in the third quarter.

Momentum in this game was hard to hold on to as the Bobcats opened up on a 9-2 run which was capped by a trey from Craig Bock.

Freshman Jeremy Johnson completed a three-point play with 4:51 left in the first quarter to give the Braves a 12-9 lead, it was their first lead of the contest.

Both teams continued to battle, and with 14 seconds left in the first quarter, Lance Kinder hit a lay up and a free throw to retie the game at 42.

Williams hit a bomb for SCC with 5.3 left, but Delta attempted to answer the prayer with a three of their own. Kinder, though, was fouled on the shot and could only hit one of three stripers.

After SCC's Chris Monroe fouled with 18 seconds left, Bock tied the game at 97 with two free throws.

Scott County took the ball out after calling a full timeout and the inbound pass went to Chris Johnson. Johnson drove the ball upcourt and kicked it off to Monroe, who gave it back to Johnson. Johnson rose up and hit the three for the win.

"Any win is good," said Wells. "This was a hair-pulling performance, but I'm glad we could pull it out."

"We are getting better a little bit everyday," said Stein. "This is the eighth game this season that we have lost by five or less points. We now just have to try to turn the corner and get ready for Oran."

CARUTHERSVILLE - The Charleston Bluejays picked up a big win on the road on Friday night by defeating Caruthersville 68-65.

Charleston (16-8) trailed for most of the game but rallied in the fourth quarter to pull out the win.

Caruthersville led 17-11 after one quarter and 34-30 at the half. They still led 47-46 entering the fourth quarter but couldn't hold on.

"This is a very big win for us," said Charleston head coach Danny Farmer. "They were up on us by double figures late in the second quarter. In previous games if we got behind then we'd get down on ourselves. We didn't do that tonight. I was pleased."

Caruthersville was led by standout Bryant Rodgers with 23 points and Chris Springer with 17, who buried four 3-pointers. The Tigers made eight 3-pointers on the night.

Charleston was led by Division I signee Lezcano Dean with 17 points, including three treys. Jordy Mixon added 15. Dontay Clark and Kewain Gant both had nine points and Ashton Farmer and Deshaundry Hamilton each had seven.

"We had good balance tonight," said Farmer. "We need that here late in the season. We don't need just one guy getting all the points. We need about seven that can score."

The Bluejays are seeded second in the upcoming Class 2A, District 2 Tournament at Bloomfield. They will play on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against the winner of the Greenville-Chaffee game.
