SIKESTON - Mona Irene Ainsworth, 93, died June 14, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Feb. 17, 1910, in Paragould, Ark., daughter of the late Robert L. and Mary A. Langley Hoskins, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, Order of the Eastern Star and was a past worthy high priestess for the White Shrine, of which she was a member for more than 50 years. A volunteer in the Foster Grandmother Program, she served six years at Southwest Elementary School and Matthews Elementary School in Sikeston for the past two years; and was also a volunteer at the Sikeston Nutrition Center. She and her husband had owned and operated several restaurants in Caruthersville, including Roy and Mona's, The Top Hat and Gwin's Cafe in Hayti.

On Jan. 10, 1929, in Paragould, she married Roy Ainsworth who preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1976.

Survivors include: one daughter, Shirley Ainsworth of Sikeston; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Lee and Janet Haines of Sikeston; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Patrice and Bruce Taylor of Sikeston; and four great-grandchildren, Dr. Brett Taylor of Columbia and Logan Haines, Jennifer Haines and Luke Haines of Sikeston.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. William Koch, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Graveside services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville by the Rev. Paul Lurry, a retired Presbyterian minister.
