Renzo Blevins

ELLINGTON - Renzo Edwin Blevins, 84, formerly of Bernie, died March 12, 2002, at the John J. Pershing Veterans Administration Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Born Jan. 12, 1918, at Townley, son of the late Silas Edwin and Rosa Mae Gaines Blevins, he was a member of White Oak Grove General Baptist Church in rural Bernie. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a firefighter for the Malden Airbase before retiring.

On Dec. 22, 1948, in Nuwaqusta, Miss., he married Alcione O. Greene who preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 1988.

Survivors include: two sons, Dennis Blevins of Ellington and Ronald Blevins of Bernie; one daughter, Valerie Gordon of Dexter; two brothers, Robert Blevins of Bernie and Bill Blevins of Pontiac, Mich.; three sisters, Shirley Burner of Swartz Creek, Mich., Marsena Burgess of Flushing, Mich., and Bernice Huffman of Malden; and five grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Blevins and Delmar Blevins; and two sisters, Helen Rodery and Edith Wheeler.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday with Dale Hartle, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
