SIKESTON - Mella Quay Batts, 62, died May 1, 2003, at her home.

Born March 9, 1941, in Lilbourn, daughter of the late James Turner and Waymon Mary Louise Brewer Copous, she was a retired licensed practical nurse and a member of the Bement Baptist Church.

She was first married to Kenneth Joe Parker of Sikeston.

In 1991, she married Harry Eugene Batts who preceded her in death on April 19, 2002.

Other survivors include: two sons, Kenneth Joe Parker Jr. and Bradley Lynn Parker of Sikeston; one daughter, Patricia Ann Parker McCoy of Sikeston; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Nicole Parker of Georgia and Melisia Jones, Felicia Jones, Jessica McCoy, Jeffrey McCoy II, Ronald "R.J." Parker, Ashley Parker and Cassidy Scott of Sikeston; and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters and one grandchild.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Delbert Bishop, pastor of the Bement Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Kenny Parker, Bradley Parker, Lee Pigg, Chris Berry, Donnie Nance and Larry Lofton.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Mark Brewer, Jeff McCoy, Jamie Merritt, Randy McKnight and James Nance.
