CHARLESTON - A Charleston boy was injured Friday evening when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a second vehicle.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the incident occurred at 5:55 p.m. on U.S. 62, four miles west of Charleston, when an eastbound vehicle driven by 10-year-old Terrance Gillespie was overtaking an eastbound vehicle driven by Luis Cruz, 45, of Charleston.

Cruz's vehicle moved to the left to overtake Gillespie's vehicle and as a result struck Gillespie's vehicle.

The boy was taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston where he was treated for minor injuries.

BLOOMFIELD - A two-vehicle accident early Saturday morning resulted in minor injuries for an Essex woman.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a northbound vehicle driven on County Road 570, one mile north of U.S. 60 by Lori Lacy, 31, of Essex was passing a northbound vehicle driven by 36-year-old David Bass of Sikeston. When Bass' vehicle attempted to make a left turn it collided with Lacy's vehicle.

Lacy's vehicle then ran off the left side of the roadway, came back onto the roadway and overturned, coming to rest on the right portion of the roadway.

Lacy was taken to Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
