Charles Ray Lasters

SIKESTON -- Charles Ray Lasters, 69, died Aug. 13, 2007, at his home.

Born Feb. 9, 1938, in Lowndes, son of the late Clarence Leonard and Sophie Ann Bounds Lasters, he was a retired owner and operator of Mid-State Carriers in SIkeston. He was a member of the Tanner Street Church of God.

He was married to Pauline Gentles, who preceded him in death in August 1992.

One son, Danny Lasters; three brothers, Howard Lasters, Bill Lasters and Fred Lasters; one sister, Norma Fleetwood; and one son-in-law, Jim Dew, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Debbie and Loyd Triplett of Essex and Gina Dew of Puxico; one son, David J. Lasters, stationed with the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. WInston Churchill in Norfork, Va.; one brother, Dale Lasters of Grand Rivers, Ky.; one sister, Sue Smythe of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two grandchildren, three step grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Carl Addison, pastor of Tanner Street Church of God, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Berong Cemetery near Zalma.
