Speakout 12-22

If you are as fair-minded as you say you are, you will print this in SpeakOut. In response to your editorial concerning Sen. Trent Lott, I think what he said is wrong and it should not be taken lightly. As far as you seem to hate in young black men toward whites, I and many others have seen hate in young white men toward blacks. Just like many articles you write, you are biased and one-sided. I hope others don't feel as you do in Sikeston and in America. Thank you, and I hope you print this.

I don't smoke and smokers, your smoke doesn't bother me. I was amazed at the one caller who talked about smokers in the Dec. 11 paper. I've never read such hatefulness and spite. Something must underline this hate, maybe an overbearing spouse or an unsatisfied sex life. If the writer has any religion at all, all religions teach some degree of love and tolerance. Do the editors and management of the paper share these views? Otherwise, why print them? I smoked for 40 years and quit five years ago because they were killing me. However, if adults have them, totally understand the consequences and still want them, smoke them.

I saw where Al Gore is not going to run for president in 2004. Now he didn't give up on his own. Apparently the Democrats are not going to back him. At least they're smart enough to know a loser when they see it. So now I guess we won't have to look at Gore in 2004.

This is about our great leader. Our President doesn't care for the elderly, sick and unemployed. He has it made and could care less. Before he leaves this world, he will pay. If not in this world, he will pay in the next for the way he has done the people. All he has on his mind is war. And really, what it boils down to is oil. I don't blame Gore for running for president. Everything is going to be in such a mess by the time "Beavis and Butthead" get out of office, it will take 10 years to get everything half-way back like it was when Clinton left office.
