Speakout 5/24

I want to Speakout on this "hateful person" or who it was in the paper concerning my granddaughter. Let me tell you something. You must be a very miserable, old person. I am sure you are old or either old or young or something, I know you are hateful. Anybody who will sit and talk about putting people down when you don't even know the fact. You don't know the facts about my granddaughter, you don't know the facts about me or my life. You don't know anything. All you are worried about is sitting in your nice place with all your money and stuff. No. 1, my daughter is not on welfare, OK? So I want to get that straight. She isn't on welfare, OK? By the way, like I say just make sure you get your facts straight from now on before you call and put anybody down.

If anyone out there is interested in helping the poor and needy that needs clothing and articles and things like that and you have rummage sale items, if you would like me to pick these things up, I have a heart and everything for people like this. I do help people. I will be glad to come pick up your rummage sale leftovers or whatever. If you would like to help in anyway, please call 667-5326.

I went to a new club this weekend, Jazzy and Bluesy. It is about time this area has a nice, safe and classy place to go. It didn't matter what your race was, everyone was welcomed. The owners and employees were as nice and as courteous as could be. It can be only a good thing for the downtown area of Sikeston to have a place like Jazzy and Bluesy. The problem is this town is still stuck in the Jim Crow era. I have been all over the world and Sikeston is still stuck in the 50s-mentality. But this could be a turn-around if everyone could come together as we did the other night - blacks and whites together - enjoyed a good time, good music, good friends. It is sad from the man working at Wal-Mart all the way to the city officials and I do stress the city officials, racism is still there. The looks and the actions they make it is sad. I hope, that maybe, just maybe, this could be the start for Sikeston. It only takes one person to make a change, let's make it.

I am so tired of reading these hateful things that Democrats are saying about the Republicans. Grow up and take what you Democrats got by with for years and years and years by inflating all the giveaways. Someone has to clean up our state. We are in debt to our eyebrows. So shut up and thank goodness for the good sense someone had to do this finally.

I would like to Speakout about Friday's issue, May 13, 2005, where they knocked down the Scott County Milling Company's sign. I think that Sikeston has gone crazy with knocking things down. It said that recently bricks were beginning to fall off the top. Well, couldn't that have been helped or taken care of. I know it was safety hazard but they could have saved some history for Sikeston. They are tearing down way too much.
