Sentencing date set

Wednesday, May 4, 2005

Richard Yang, left, is escorted to his 10 a.m. court appearance by Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter Tuesday. Yang skipped out on his bond and fled from the county in 1999 after entering a guilty plea to the charge of second degree murder in Scott County for the stabbing death of his estranged wife, Louise Yang, on July 4, 1998. During Tuesday's court appearance, Circuit Judge David A. Dolan set Yang's sentencing date for May 23. Scott County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Boyd explained that under victims rights law, the state must provide notice of the sentencing to the victim's family. Also during the hearing, Sikeston attorney Jim Robison advised he will continue to represent Yang for this case.
