ORAN - Hazel Mae Anthony, 92, died at 5:10 a.m. Feb. 9, 2008, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.

She was born Oct. 6, 1915, at Lamar, Ark., the daughter of the late Fred and Alberta Bradley Harmon.

She married Bernard "B.W." Anthony on July 19, 1935, and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1993, after 58 years of marriage. They moved to Southeast Missouri in December of 1936.

Mrs. Anthony was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting and embroidery. She had been on kidney dialysis since August of 1999. Hazel Anthony was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oran.

Survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, William Lee and Shirley Anthony of Selma, Ala., Kenneth Gene and Dixie Anthony of Grantville, Kan. and Fredie Wayne Anthony of Derby, Kan.; one daughter, Betty Perry of Kinmundy, Ill.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Imogene Uptain of Concord, Calif. and Josephine Tate of Oran; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Thelma Harmon of Portageville and Bob and Ernestine Harmon of Phoenix. Numerous nieces, nephews and special friends and relatives of the community also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Gentry on Sept. 9, 2002.

Her physical presence will be missed greatly, but we are all blessed by her loving spirit which will live on through us.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Oran, with the Rev. Ed Carter officiating.

Burial will follow in Friend Cemetery in Oran.
