SIKESTON - Bob Scott was admitted to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau Tuesday as a medical patient.

SIKESTON - Tomorrow's election of the city's proposed purchase of Missouri Utilities for $950,000 will be held from 6 a.m. until sundown or 7 p.m., whichever comes later. Clear and cool weather is forecast. Voting is expected to be heavier than the turnout for the city elections April 4.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston City Council approved a tentative 1998 fiscal year budget, which was presented by City Manager Dan Ward during a special meeting Monday night. After tabulating anticipated revenues (which Ward said he is confident will be received) and expenditures, the tentative fund balance at the end of fiscal year 1988 was shown at $77,406. Although the city's budget does not show a deficit as projected last week, Ward and the council considered it necessary to make more budget cuts in order to decrease expenditures and increase the year-end balance.

SIKESTON - Sikeston's Rome Peiczynski recently headed to England to compete with the United States All-Stars. Catching in all the local sights and seeing a few strange things on the field, the trip will probably be in his memory bank forever.


SIKESTON - Donny Garner, branch manager for Turner Dairies Inc., which is located at 1020 County Line Road in Sikeston, displayed one of the yellow "flavor-savor" containers. The containers, which keep harmful ultra-violet rays away from the milk, are part of the innovations by the company to meet consumer demands for a healthy product. Turner Dairies Inc. was honored by Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce as the Industry of the Month for April.
