Your View 6/18: Shopping success

Friday, June 18, 2004

June 10-12 marked Charleston's first annual Granny's Lemonade Days.

Shoppers from the surrounding counties flocked to the participating businesses to search for Granny, have a cool cup of lemonade, register for prizes and find bargains. Several businesses reported increased traffic as well as sales, but the business owners really noticed that the shoppers seemed to enjoy Lemonade Days.

Many people visited with friends while shopping. Some even brought friends from other towns into stores just to shop Lemonade Days.

More than one new customer found us during these past two days. Several folks commented that before Lemonade Days, they didn't know that Charleston had such quaint shops. Most said they would be returning to Charleston to shop in the future.

The merchant's group wishes to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who supported Granny's Lemonade Days. The local businesses placing sponsoring ads and donating prizes certainly helped Lemonade Days, but the local shoppers who came out and supported us during Granny's Lemonade Days are also to be thanked. Without them, Granny's Lemonade Days would have never succeeded at all. You did shop Charleston and for that we say thank you.
