McKay: The Greatest Coach Of All Time?
Last week Portageville pulled off the biggest shocker in the SEMO Conference, blistering Scott City 58-0 to end an 11-game losing streak.
Have the Rams gotten that much worse in just one year, or is Jim McKAY simply the greatest coach in the history of high school football?
In Portageville, fans have to be thinking the latter of the two is correct. The Bulldogs opened the season with an understandable loss to Arkansas powerhouse Gosnell, but managed to score 20 points. Then came last week's unbelievably lopsided win on the road.
Now you can expect McKAY and Company to improve to 2-1 with a blowout win over Fulton County, Ky., Friday night.
Fulton is currently 0-3 on the season, having been outscored 118-0. They're worse than Portageville's team last year.

Sikeston at Dexter
The Bearcats are riding high after last week's cakewalk over Westside. Now Dexter has an opportunity to put itself on the map by upsetting Sikeston.
The Bearcats appear to be improved this year, but they still don't have the weapons to get the job done against the Bulldogs. Sikeston has done a decent job containing the area's top players in their first two games, but Dexter presents a different challenge with a passing attack.
Final score: Sikeston 28, Dexter 17
Farmington at NMCC
Why does Farmington get so much respect? They seem to be state ranked every year, and have fielded just one outstanding team ('99) to my knowledge. Once again, the Knights are supposed to be stellar. Personally, I think NMCC is going to roll if they can keep from turning the ball over on their own one-yard line this week.
Final score: NMCC 35, Farmington 12
Both East Prairie and Scott City have struggled moving the ball.
The offense that scores first probably wins the game. Scott City may not be as bad as what they looked against Portageville, but remember, the Rams only beat East Prairie 7-6 last year.
When it's this close, go with the home team.

The Green Wave don't stand much of a chance against John Burroughs.
Led by quarterback A.J. Van Slyke and running back Scott Van Slyke, sons of former Pirates great Andy Van Slyke, the Bombers are a force this year.
Final score: Burroughs 41, Malden 20
Chaffee will see the same offense it did last week when Piggott comes to town Friday.
But Walter Rau, Jonathan Bricker and James Fry will run it more effectively than Fredericktown's backfield did. The Pigs are not the dominant team they've been in the past, but they're still solid.
Final score: Piggott 41, Chaffee 14
Last week Jordy Mixon and Dontay Clark put on a show, but it wasn't enough for the Bluejays to pull out a win. It will be this week, unless unpredictable Caruthersville decides to bring the good team. You never can tell.

Pocahontas returns most of the starters from last year's 9-3 playoff team that defeated Kennett 21-14, most notably 1,400-yard passer Chris Wellman and speedy wideout David Huffman. Indians fall...by the exact same score.
Final score: Pocahontas 21, Kennett 14
Once again, Jackson will have no problem rolling to victory this week. The Indians are bigger, faster and stronger than the Pirates and will dominate this game in every facet. Perryville has more important things to worry about anyway, like bond issues.

Blytheville is 0-2 against southeast Missouri opponents this year, having been outscored 65-12.
Cape Central is the last team in the area that gets to pad stats against the frazzled Chicks.
Final score: Cape Central 30, Blytheville 6
Five hours to Sedalia, the Mules spend 48 minutes beating the stink out of Smith Cotton, then it's five hours back to Bluff.
Final score: Poplar Bluff 41, Smith Cotton 7
Crystal City is 2-0, with wins over Fredericktown and a very weak Rosary squad. Hayti has a lot more to offer.
