SIKESTON - The curious who have been motoring to the Sikeston Compress and Warehouse Company have been rewarded with a million dollar view of 10,000 bales of cotton stacked on the operation grounds north of the building.


ST. LOUIS - Lady Luck's shining light must have burned out last Friday night for the Sikeston Bulldogs, who journeyed all the way to St. Louis to play Christian Brothers College and the lost 6-0.

EAST PRAIRIE - Once again rallying around a civic cause, the citizens of this community are now busy organizing an auxiliary police force, the first such force in East Prairie.


NEW MADRID - This community's new post office will be dedicated at 2 p.m. Oct. 21.

MATTHEWS - A career education program featuring Skip Kincade, a forester with the U.S. Forestry Service based in New Madrid, was presented to fourth grade students at Matthews.

SIKESTON - Five Sikeston Jaycee Punt, Pass and Kick district winners are headed for the state competition. The qualifiers are Zac Fidler, Ty Fidler, Mark Blissett, Adrain Blissett and Mark Silverthorn.


SIKESTON - The number of teen births are reported at an alarming high rate, according to the Missouri Perinatal Association. Increases in 1989 were 23 percent in Mississippi County; 22.6 in New Madrid County; 19.7 percent in Stoddard County and 19.2 percent in Scott County.
