SIKESTON - "Tribute to the Fallen." Over 58,000 names of men and women who died or are missing in action during the Vietnam War between 1958 and 1975 are inscribed on the black panels of the Moving Wall. Area residents have flocked to Sikeston's Rotary Park, where the wall is displayed to pay their respects with moments of silence, letters and roses placed near the names. The memorial to U.S. veterans who lost their lives in the war is the exact replica of the permanent monument in Washington, D.C. It is half the size but includes every name in the same place as the original.
