Poetic salute

America: Home Of the Brave

A veil of sadness hangs above New York City,

For this was a place that was home to many.

A place where people worked and children played in city parks on sunny days.

But the sun went behind a cloud to cry

When it witnessed all those people die.

When terrorist cowards came to town,

Flew a plane into a building - and knocked it down.

On the plane were innocent lives, Families, children, husbands and wives.

The families mourn, a nation weeps

And prays to God for strength and peace.

For not one of us will ever forget

That fateful day, but rest assured

They Will Pay!

For Americans we are and always will be, And we will claim a victory.

They caused us pain, they committed wrong

When they attacked the Pentagon.

But we will stand tall, be tough and brave

Like the policemen and firefighters,

Their lives they gave.

People of America, this poem is for all of you.

And in closing, let these words ring true,

For they always will be

America: Home of the brave,

Land of the free.
