Your view: Saying good-bye

Wednesday, October 13, 2004

On behalf of my parents, Clayton and Ruby Bohannon, and myself, here are some closing thoughts to this community we love. It has truly been a pleasure to serve you for the past 33 years. Through the avenue of business, we have been fortunate to have the opportunity of meeting, visiting and working with so many good people whom we consider friends. To us, and hopefully to you, too, Bo's was more than a restaurant. It was a part of your daily routine - a way to get moving in the morning or a way to close out a tough day. It was also a way to take a break at lunchtime, get a barbecue or a bowl of my dad's homemade beef stew with cornbread. Bo's became a place to get a hot cup of coffee and read the newspaper or a place where you gathered with your friends to discuss everything from sports to politics and possibly a little local gossip thrown in somewhere.

We have had the opportunity to watch young boys and girls grow into men and women with families of their own. This winter we had the opportunity to feed a brave group of soldiers at the Armory before they were deported to Iraq with the task of defending our nation and our freedom. We have welcomed many new people into our community and suffered grief as many friends have been called home. As Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 3: "There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven .. A time to search and a time to move on."

It is now time for us to move on with no regrets, but taking many fond memories with us. For me personally, I'm looking forward to spending some time with my beautiful wife and three great children.

To my mom and dad, thanks for the privilege to work beside you for the past 20 years. I've learned what it means to work hard and live right. You allowed me to take time off to be with my family while you both never took a break. That's what I call sacrifice. That's also called love. Enjoy your retirement. You both deserve it very much.

To our staff who have stuck with us through the years - we appreciate all your hard work and especially your friendship. Thanks to our family and friends who have lifted us up during the tough times. Most of all, we say thank you to all our customers and friends for allowing us to be part of your day. May God bless each of you.

Your friend,

Randy Bohannon
