JACKSON -- New Madrid County Central's volleyball team ran into a much-bigger Jackson squad on Tuesday, falling in two sets, 11-15, 1-15.

"The scores sound bad, but in the first game, the girls played awesome," said NMCC coach Sonya Pixley.

"Jackson has an excellent team. I'll take 15-10 against a team like that any day. In the last game, Jackson just kicked it in. They've got some excellent servers."

Kendra Gregg had two kills, while Megan Lange and Lindsey Campbell each contributed one. The Lady Eagles had no aces in the match.

Jackson improved to 15-10-1 with the win. NMCC (7-12-2) will travel to North Pemiscot on Thursday.

NMCC lost the junior varsity match to Jackson, 3-15, 3-15. "Jackson's jayvee could beat a lot of varsity teams," noted Pixley.

ORAN -- Oran's volleyball team defeated Bloomfield in straight sets Tuesday night, 15-7, 15-7.

Jessica Prino served 10 points with five assists, and Maria Eftink provided eight kills. Ashley Dirnberger served seven points and Candice Duncan contributed five assists.

Oran (15-8-1) will travel to Cape Central on Thursday.

BELL CITY -- Chaffee's volleyball team suffered its 11th loss of the season Tuesday, losing to Bell City 11-15, 4-15.

For the Lady Red Devils, Jennifer Vandeven and Natalie Townsend each had seven kills. Ashley Graham contributed four blocks.
