Stella McGill

MALDEN - Stella McGill, 92, died July 23, 2004, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation in Malden.

Born Jan. 22, 1912, in Matthews, daughter of the late Joseph Harrison Kem and Elmary Robinson Kem Smoot, she was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Malden.

On Oct. 5, 1929, at Charleston, she married Arthur "Tobe" McGill who preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1987.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Anita McGill of Malden; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Jerry Johnson and Wanda and Charles Johnson of Malden, Murle and Don Hinze of Mattawan, Mich.; two brothers, Earl Kem and Howard Smoot of Blythe, Calif.; three sisters, Freda Hagopian of Fresno, Calif., Della West of Benton, Ky., and Anita Beran of DeSoto; and 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were one infant son, Donnie Joe McGill; one daughter, Peggy Ann McGill; and five sisters, one brother and her stepfather, Ed Smoot.

Services were conducted at 10 a.m. today at Landess Funeral Home in Malden with the Revs. David Wigger, Richard Blagg and Mike Davis officiating.

Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
