According to reports, the five-car crash occurred at 4:25 p.m. in Cape Girardeau County on Missouri Highway 25, three miles south of Delta.

As Raymond H. Fluharty, 39, of Poplar Bluff was driving south, he crossed the center line, striking northbound vehicles driven by Jeremy W. Hunter, 24, of Cape Girardeau and George M. Carver, 26, of Jackson.

Sanders was pronounced dead at the scene by Cape Girardeau County Coroner Mike Hurst. She was taken to White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk, where friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday and services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday.

Fluharty was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau with minor injuries. Sustaining moderate injuries were Carver, who was taken by ambulance to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, and Rodgers, who was also taken to St. Francis Medical Center by ambulance.
