Portageville topples Chaffee, 67-50

PORTAGEVILLE -- Sarah Cayton scored 21 points and Ashley Brown added 20 as Portageville toppled Chaffee Thursday night, 67-50.

The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Red Devils 17-13 in the first quarter, 15-13 in the second, 19-13 in the third and 16-11 in the fourth.

Jennifer Vandeven led all Chaffee scorers with 18 points. Portageville (5-10) will face the winner of the Campbell/Hayti game in the Bootheel Conference Tournament at Caruthersville.

MARBLE HILL -- Kelly won its 10th consecutive game Thursday night, manhandling Woodland 52-16.

The Lady Hawks opened the game on a 16-2 run and never looked back, outscoring the Lady Cardinals 18-5 in the second, 8-6 in the third, then 10-3 in the fourth.

"The girls are really playing well right now," said Kelly coach Rod McQuerter. "Everybody got a chance to play, and the girls kept the same defensive mentality."

Ashley Payne and Shannon Deshaney scored 10 points each to lead Kelly in scoring. Dianna McCall paced Woodland with seven.

"Coach (Curt) Finley is doing an excellent job with that Woodland team," said McQuerter. "They improved a lot since the last time we played them."

Kelly (16-2) will travel to Puxico on Friday.

Charleston 58, Oran 45

ORAN -- Missy Whitney and Monisha Murray teamed up with 15 and 14 points respectively to lead Charleston over Oran on Thursday, 58-45.

The Lady Bluejays fell behind early, but dominated the final three quarters to pull out the win.

Maria Eftink led the Lady Eagles with 17 points.

Charleston (15-3) will travel to Scott Central on Monday, while Oran hosts Woodland.

Dexter 65, Scott County 40

DEXTER -- Dexter ran its record to 14-5 Thursday night, rolling over Scott Central, 65-40.

Katie Dunlap scored 18 points to lead the Lady Bearcats, followed by Amy Rose with 14.

Hoot led the Bravettes with 18.
