Prom promotion

Tuesday, January 29, 2002

Long before springtime, a young woman's fancy turns to fancy dresses and prom. As a way to make use of those dresses, the New Madrid County Central High School cheerleaders are hosting a prom dress sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the NMCC Commons. Young women are invited to bring their dresses for resale, at a fee of $5 for all dresses offered for sale by a participant while others are invited to browse through the selection of dresses and accessories, often able to purchase the items at bargain prices, according to Janie Jones, cheerleading sponsor. Jones noted more than 20 schools were invited to participate as buyers and sellers. The NMCC cheerleaders got a peek at some of the first dresses to arrive. Tasha Williams checks the hem length for Renita Hamilton on a dress while Jasmeka Thatch looks over another offering.
