SIKESTON - C.H. Butler was re-elected chairman of the Sikeston district of the Boy Scouts at the annual meeting of the organization. Butler enters his second term in office. The meeting was held at the Palace Cafe.

SIKESTON - This is the final week of the membership campaign by the Little Theatre and as only members are eligible for admission, tickets to any of the Little Theatre presentations for those interested in viewing some of the finest Broadway productions staged by excellent local talent should make certain they get their membership cards without delay.

SIKESTON - A Sikeston couple, Carroll and Wilda Beaird, has adopted its second and third children. They adopted their first child about six years ago. The brothers they recently adopted have actually been with the family for nearly a year.

SIKESTON - Stacey McDaniel officially opened Stacey's Main Street Station, 611 S. Main, on Wednesday. The beauty salon moved from the 500 block of Main Street.


SIKESTON - When you think about these little kids who would not get toys if you didn't do this, well, then it makes you feel good. Sue Guess, social service supervisor for the Missouri Division of Family Services, added despite the tons of paperwork and worry involved in developing a list of area residents in need for the Community Christmas Campaign each year, it is the bright eyes of the children unwrapping a present that make her efforts seem worthwhile. The Standard Democrat's 13th Annual Christmas Campaign will provide assistance for needy families in the area. In 1990, the division received over 400 applications over a three-day period. Guess expects more than that this year.
