Speakout 6-9

Sunday, June 9, 2002

Every time I go to the store and buy something I get back pennies. Usually two or more. If everyone would just narrow it down to the nickel, we could eliminate all of this copper. If it is two cents over, charge the less amount. If its three cents get the nickel. It will all even out in the long run and we can do away with the smallest denomination in American history. The coin is ugly and useless. It's time we realized that a penny ain't worth diddily and get rid of it. The people who bend over to pick up a penny will die and leave it to someone else to spend. The people they leave it to would not bend over for a dollar. Yet will most likely spend every penny.

Wasn't it Benjamin Franklin who said, "A penny saved is a penny earned?"

I'm calling in regards to all the pictures in the May 29 paper over the drug bust during the raid on May 28. Three prominent citizens here in Sikeston were arrested for methamphetamine but their pictures were not put in the paper. Seems a little prejudiced to me.

I would like to SpeakOut against the city board in Morehouse that got onto a person who was in the nursing home for a few weeks until he could come home, following surgery on his foot, that something had to be done about his yard. I would like to ask the people in Morehouse, where are the missionaries that could help people who are in a situation like he was in. I would just like to SpeakOut about people doing a person that way.

I'm calling about the article by Michael Jensen, "Untruths, half-truths about the Democratic Party." I wish there was some way you could get the Standard Democrat without his untruths, half-truths and rabble-rousing editorials. Michael Jensen wants to go against everybody except himself. He inflames more and tells more half-truths and untruths than any paper in the country. The only stench that comes from the source is from the so-called editorials that Michael Jensen writes, supposedly in the land of the free.

I just happened to run across the Tony Heckemeyer show today. He calls himself a conservative Democrat. Just listen to him for 30 minutes or so. He's an ultra-left-wing liberal. I understand he's a big subsidy taker for cropland subsidies, draws thousands of dollars from welfare and he has time to goof off on a show like this. I knew his daddy years ago and he wasn't nothing like this boy. I don't know what school he went to, but I'll tell you, he's dangerous.

This is for the "Where to turn?" in the May 31 issue of SpeakOut. Tell the ladies to do like I do, give a false ID, false address and go to Sikeston Library and she'll get by with it.
