SIKESTON - George L. Hale Jr. leaves this Tuesday for Buffalo, N.Y., to report for duty with the U.S. Border Patrol of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, a branch of the Department of Justice.

SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Craig of Sikeston are the parents of their first child, a son, born at Missouri Delta Community Hospital.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Department of Public Safety's 1982 year-end report with statistics on the department shows that the city experienced an 8 percent decrease in crime in 1982.

SIKESTON - In terms of what this weekend's third annual United Cerebral Palsy Telethon means to the Kenny Rogers United Cerebral Palsy Center, consider that if the $100,000 goal is reached, the telethon will provide funds to keep the center in operation for the next 10 months. According to CP Center Director John Chadd, the telethon has been the primary source of income for the center since the event began in 1981.

SIKESTON - C&F Foods, a Los Angeles-based food processing company, will open a plant in Sikeston by mid-summer, Sikeston Economic Development Director Bill Green said Saturday. The new plant will offer 25-30 immediate new jobs with a possible increase to 40-50 jobs eventually.

SIKESTON - City officials and school board directors throughout Scott County will be elected Tuesday. Several special propositions are also included on the general election ballot. In the city of Sikeston, the incumbent candidates Chuck Leible and Terry E. Bryant will be re-elected to three-year terms on the City Council.
