Sikeston woman is killed in car accident

CANALOU -- A Sikeston woman sustained fatal injuries as the result of a one-vehicle accident Thursday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 11:45 a.m., an accident occurred as motorist Tina L. Parker, 39, was traveling westbound in New Madrid County on Route H, two miles east of Canalou when her vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a bridge, ejecting Parker from the vehicle.

She was taken by helicopter to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where she was pronounced dead at 1:20 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
