SIKESTON - Edwin Webster completed satisfactorily the senior Red Cross life saving course at the swimming pool Monday night, J.E. Butler, his instructor, announced Wednesday.

SIKESTON - And another win - The "Lampliters," John Noel, Reyn Young and Tom Nunnelee have added another victory to their laurels, as the folk-singing trio of teen-age boys took first place honors last Saturday night in the annual Jackson Homecomers Talent Show.

BLOOMFIELD - The 1982 Miss Bloomfield was selected Monday evening in a contest sponsored by the Bloomfield Jaycees. Crowned queen is Hollie Patrick, 16-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dempsey Patrick of Bloomfield. Second runner-up is Valerie Lynxwiler, 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lynxwiler of Bloomfield; and Laurie Fortner, 15-year-old daughter of Pat Wood of Bloomfield and Gary Fortner of Utah, was named first runner-up.

SIKESTON - As January approaches, Scott County Prosecuting Attorney David Dolan prepares for a new job. Dolan was elected Associate Circuit Judge on Aug. 4, since he faces no opponent in the general election on Nov. 3. "This is a good career advancement for me," said Dolan. "After the hectic schedule of the prosecutor's office, it may be a little more routine."


NEW MADRID - The community's ordinances regulating the placement of mobile homes continues to cause furor among residents.
