Glastetter, Ruff qualify for state in cross country
BENTON -- Kelly cross country runners Michael Glastetter and Sarah Ruff qualified for the Class 2 Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) meet, to be held at Jefferson City on Saturday.
Glastetter, a senior, placed 13th (18:58) in the boys division at the District 1 meet at Jefferson Barracks on Saturday, while the freshman Ruff finished seventh (21:34) in the girls division.
"I'm very happy for Michael and Sarah for qualifying at districts and moving on to the state meet," said Kelly coach Rachael Groner. "I was particularly impressed with Sarah's talent, especially for a freshman. She ran a very smart race."
Other Kelly participants and places in the district competition were: (varsity boys) Russell Carroll (18th), Derek Brucker (19th), Jordan Felter (21st), Zach Hicks (24th), Brandon Ayers (25th) and Chris Cooper (31st) and (varsity girls) Samantha Barber (28th), Lauren Gean (29th), Kathleen Ray (32nd) and Elizabeth Ray (33rd).
Kelly's boys finished third among nine teams with 80 points, while the girls finished fifth with 112 points.
