In other singles matches, Kara True toppled Chaffee's Amy Holmes 8-1, KaMyia Sager beat Chaffee's Brittany Coch 8-0, then Mandy Shankle blanked Chaffee's Cara Probst 8-0.
In varsity doubles, Luehmann and Showmaker beat Guzman and Rice 8-0, Burton and Sager defeated Kiefer and Holmes 8-0, then True and Shankle shut out Coch and Probst 8-0.
In the junior varsity match, Charleston got singles wins from Lauren Smith, Jessie Duenne and Ashley Shands. The doubles team of Kati Luehmann and Rebecca Rolwing also won.
Charleston (1-0) will travel to Carbondale next Thursday.
"It was a good first match," said Baker. "I was proud of how we came out and played, but we've still got a long way to go. We've got a lot to work on."
