Launita McNeal

HUNTINGTON, Ind. -- Launita Marie McNeal, 69, died Sept. 22, 2003, at the Norwood Nursing Center in Huntington.

Born Sept. 3, 1934, in Stoddard County, Mo., she was the daughter of Mildred Arnold Mekan of Bernie, Mo., and the late Lawrence Mekan.

On Oct. 17, 1951, she married LeeRoy McNeal who preceded her in death on March 3, 1995.

In addition to her mother, survivors include: two sons, Danny L. McNeal of Huntington and Rickie McNeal of Fayetteville, N.C.; four daughters, Debra Farr of Flushing, Mich., Sharon Counts of Godfrey, Eva McNeal of Windsor, Mo., and Diane Dennis of Dixon, Mo.; five brothers, William Mekan of Cadillac, Mich., Gene Mekan of Paragould, Ark., Thomas Mekan of Temple City, Calif., David Mekan of Van Buren, Mo., and Ivan Mekan of Bernie; four sisters, Violetta Mastilovich of Affton, Mo., Alva J. Armes of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Carolyn Mekan of Temple City and Francis Mekan of Fayetteville; and 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

One sister, Margaret Parks, also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Powe (Mo.) Gospel Church, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Ivan Mekan will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Mount Gilead Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie is in charge of arrangements.
