SIKESTON - Alex Waters left Wednesday morning for St. Louis to report for duty with the Naval Air Corps Reserve, in which he enlisted last September.

SIKESTON - The Missouri Pacific Railroad Co. has begun work to repair several railroad crossings in Sikeston. Traffic is advised to take alternate routes to avoid conflicts at the specified reconstruction sites.

SIKESTON - Hunter Acres Caring Center's float won the American Legion Auxiliary's $800 grand prize in the Cotton Carnival Parade. Winning the Legion's prizes were: first place, Miner Nursing Center; second place, Sikeston Convalescent Center; third place, Guardian Angel Catholic Church; and fourth place, Sikeston First Assembly of God Church.


SIKESTON - The Scott County Unit has chosen its officers and committee chairman for the 1993-94 fiscal year. They are Viney Mosley, Southeast Regional executive director; Janet Dame, income development chairman; Loleda Scott, co-chairman of patient services; Ginny Childress, treasurer; Carol Gilmore, vice president; Christy Montgomery, president; Dr. Robert Frazier, medical advisor; Terri Carr, prevention chairman; Susan Werner, memorial chairman; Vaudean Gimlin, co-chairman of patient services; Norma Perkins, marketing and communication chairman; Ellen Brandom and Gayle Green, co-chairmen of public issues and public policy; Dr. Ken Stone, detection and treatment chairman; and Tracy Sutton, nominating committee chairman.
