PINHOOK - Jim Robinson Jr., 70, died April 9, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Dec. 28, 1933, in Arlington, Tenn., son of the late Jim and Barbara Tate Robinson, he moved to Missouri in 1942 and was a prominent farmer in the Pinhook area. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of the Union Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board for more than 50 years. He was also a member or past member of the Kiwanis Club, Mississippi County Port Authority, Department of Economic Opportunity Corporation Board of Directors and DAEOC Head Start Policy Council, Mississippi County Democratic Committee, Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Services Board of Directors of Mississippi County, state board of directors for Farm Services, a 4-H Club leader for 45 years, Mississippi County Water District Board and the James Bayou Catfish Cookers. Robinson had also served as a deputy sheriff in Mississippi County and was executive secretary of the Christian Liberty District Association of Southeast Missouri Inc.

On Dec. 25, 1955, he married Athera Miles who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four sons and three daughters-in-law, Donald and Lisa Robinson of New York, Bernard Robinson of East Prairie, Reginald and Shirley Robinson of Seattle and David and Jeannie Robinson of Sikeston; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debra and Calvin Tarver and Twan Robinson of Pinhook and Latoya and Virgil Tate of Sikeston; three brothers, Jerome Robinson of Sikeston, Lynell Robinson Sr. of Pinhook and Jerry Robinson of Panama City, Fla.; five sisters, Mary Katherine Cox of Overland Park, Kan., Oneather Boldridge and Evelyn Kidd of St. Joseph, Brenda Warfield of Sikeston and Rosetta Porter of Woodbridge, Va.; his stepmother, Florida Robinson of Sikeston; and 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald R. Robinson and one sister.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. to Wednesday at Williams Funeral Home in Charleston.

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Union Baptist Church in Pinhook with the Rev. Oliver Johnson officiating.

Graveside military rites will be conducted at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
