Speakout 12/21

Tuesday, December 21, 2004

I recently got a Bill Ferrell "Have You Hugged Your Kids Today" bumper sticker. I want to comment on another bumper sticker, "No Farmer, No Food." That is a belligerent lie. It's more like "No Farmers, No Lives."

The Sikeston Fraternal Order of Eagles has been a part of this community for more than 30 years. They have given thousands of dollars to charity and have donated their facilities to charitable events. They were one of the first organizations to help the Kenny Rogers CP Center get to where it is today. And for an attorney here in town to take a workmen's comp and sue them for it is disgusting.

Regarding Mike Jensen's editorial on the death penalty, a long time ago an experienced criminal lawyer told me that if they do away with the death penalty, you will see a crime wave because it hangs over the head of every petty criminal.

Commercial people and business people in Sikeston say to support our troops. How can we support our troops when we fly the most ragged flags? We don't even notice how ugly, tattered and torn they are. Take a look, business people. See that your flags fly proudly.
