Glennon Dugan

WYATT -- James Glennon Dugan, 86, died Nov. 26, 2007, at his home.

Born Aug. 14, 1921, at Diehlstadt, to the late David Lawrence and Daisy Brown Dugan, he attended school in Wyatt and Charleston and was a 1939 graduate of Charleston High School. Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942, he served in the Rainbow Division in Panama and in the European Theatre. He was wounded in France in 1945 and was sent to Wales for recovery and rehabilitation. He was on a troop ship crossing the English Channel on the way back to the battlefront when Germany surrendered. He received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for valor.

His profession and pleasure was farming and he was engaged in the pursuit with his family during his entire life with his father and uncle, his brother and also his son and grandson. He was a member of the Wyatt United Methodist Church for a number of years and at its closing became a member of the Charleston United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Upon his return home from the war, he married Ovie Jane Ogborn of the Bird's Point community on Dec. 23, 1945. She survives of the home in Wyatt.

Also survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Debbie Dugan of Pensacola, Fla. and Mark and Rebel Dugan of Charleston; and one brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Shirley Dugan of Charleston.

He was the proud grandfather of: Jason Dugan and his wife, Tammy, of Lee's Summit, Shawn Dugan of Springfield, Holt Dugan of Charleston and Boothe Dugan of Nashville, Tenn.; and his three great-grandchildren, Rebecca, J.D. and Kyle Dugan of Lee's Summit.

One brother, David Lawrence Dugan Jr., preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Charleston with the Rev. Roger Jespersen, pastor, officiating.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Missouri Military Honors Program at the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston, with burial following.

Pallbearers will be: his grandsons, Jason Dugan, Shawn Dugan, Holt Dugan and Boothe Dugan; and his nephews, Cliff Dugan, Chris Dugan, Clark Dugan and Clay Dugan.
