ESSEX - Juanita Barber, 81, died June 26, 2007, at the Clearview Nursing Home in Sikeston.

Born Aug. 23, 1925, in East Prairie, daughter of the late William Harvey and Blanche Thompson Peppers, she had lived in Essex most of her life and was of the Pentecostal belief.

On Jan. 16, 1946, in Piggott, Ark., she married Louis H. Barber who preceded her in death on May 29, 1996.

On son, James L. Barber, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two daughters, Sharon Benthal of Portageville and Carolyn Merrick of Sikeston; one brother, Shirley Peppers of Alexandria, Ind.; and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Maxwell Lewis of Bernie will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
