Wendul Hagler
SIKESTON - Wendul G. Hagler, 70, died Sept. 16, 2007, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born Sept. 16, 1937, in Erin, Tenn., to Ethel Hankins Hagler of Erin and the late Grover Hagler, he was a U.S. Army veteran and was stationed in Germany. In 1960, he moved to Scott County where he was employed with Bob Nowell, Ferrell Excavation and later as a foreman with Hedrick Concrete.
In 1971, he established Hagler Construction Company, which he operated until retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Sikeston American Legion and a longtime member of the Sikeston Elks Lodge No. 2319, which he was currently serving as head trustee.
On Dec. 7, 1981, he married Bonnie "Bitsy" McMikle who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Colonel Wendul G. Hagler II and Captain Carla Hagler of Columbia; two daughters and one son-
in-law, Ginger LaVon and Chris Chapin of St. Peters and Sara Morgan Lenderman of Sikeston; one brother, Billy Gene Hagler of Flint, Mich.; and three grandchildren.
Three brothers preceded him in death.
Visitation is at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Sikeston Elks Lodge will then conduct an Elks Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m. with funeral services following at 7 p.m. his son, Colonel Hagler, and John Hoper will serve as eulogists.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Erin. The Rev. Tim Ferrell, pastor of the Erin-Cumberland Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Full military honors will be provided by the Tennessee National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.
Pallbearers will be: John Hoper, Josh Marret, David Fetters, Larry Fetters, Wayne Smith, Kenny Stokes and Billy Gene Hagler.
