Kitty League leaders widen gap
UNION CITY -- Farmington and Union City widened their lead over the second-division clubs on Sunday as the Greyhounds got by Sikeston 5-1 and the Firebirds edged the Fulton Railroaders 3-2.
It was the second 3-2 loss in two days for Fulton.
Andy Mannes, Railroaders manager, said, "This has been frustrating because we are playing well now. We could have won five in a row instead of only twice."
Shaun O'Connor of Fulton broke open a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning with a homerun. Adam Howard, of Farmington, came right back in the top of the fifth with a homerun of his own to tie the game again.
In the seventh inning Thurston Travis scored on a sacrifice bunt by Howard to ice the game for the Firebirds.
