Speakout 5/7

Sunday, May 7, 2006

Yesterday we seen a car that had a bad obscenity painted on something in the driver's side window come through town. It was really bad. When I checked into it, I found out that you couldn't do nothing about it because that's freedom of speech. But I bet if it said In God We Trust you could have hauled him to jail.

I'd like to speak out about the Housing Authority in Morehouse. I recently moved in there in January. I've been a good tenant. Recently I had a grandchild come to stay with me a little bit longer than he should. And come to find out, they were videotaping my every move from 6 o'clock in the morning, getting in the car and everything. The person in charge told me that I wasn't supposed to have anybody here over once a week, plus all the tenants here was griping. Well, I want all of you to know, I am moving and I hope you all are happy. It might do you all a little good to hear a child's laughter and hear their little footsteps running around. Ain't no wonder you're miserable. You're gonna die miserable. My personal life should be my business. I feel sorry for you old people. It's pretty sad when your grandchild can't visit you.

I want to speak out about your article in Tuesday's paper about Teflon, about lawyers being the crooked people that they are and ruining America. The thing you never mention is that the lawyers couldn't do this if a judge wouldn't take this case. This is a frivolous lawsuit and any judge with any common sense knows this. Why do they take it? I think it's because the judges are corrupt. Why doesn't anybody address this issue? Lawyers can only do what judges let them bring to court.

We really enjoy getting your paper everyday, but I feel for the price we pay, $1 per issue, that like the Missourian, we should be able to get one of those little boxes that the carrier can put the paper in. Sometimes ours is full of sand and wet and full of mud and you can't even read it. It would be so nice if you would go ahead and install those paper holders so a person could have a decent paper. We pay a $1 a day. If you don't mind, just go ahead and start installing them.

I was reading in SpeakOut about the out of town builders, and boy do I agree. It makes more of a point in anything that I have ever read in SpeakOut. On a larger scale, people complain about losing companies to overseas. Put our local people to work. Let's go American. Let's go Sikeston and help our own people who can't find work.

I'm just calling about the baseball coaches there in Sikeston. I just wonder if they think everything is fair out there in giving the kids all a fair shot in playing and if they have the kids best interest first in playing ball.
