Doug Taylor

SIKESTON -- Ervin Douglas Taylor, 87, died May 6, 2006, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born Jan. 29, 1919, in Sikeston, son of the late Elmos and Imelda Hanner Taylor, he was a member of the Hunter Memorial Presbyterian Church in Sikeston and a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in the South Pacific as a seaman first class during World War II. He had operated the Taylor Poultry Market with his father and later worked for 20 years for Ray Clinton Construction before retiring.

On July 21, 1966, at Denver, he married Melba Asberry who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Ervin Douglas Taylor Jr. of Bristol, Tenn., and Alan Taylor of Lewisville, Texas; one daughter, Elaine Crenshaw of Clarksville, Tenn.; three stepdaughters, Carla Tidwell of Albuquerque, N.M., Alicia Buchanan of Denver and Pamela Singer of Jefferson City; one sister, Nina Vern Andrews of Denver; and 13 grandchildren and nine great-

grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held a 1 p.m. Thursday at Hunter Memorial Presbyterian Church in Sikeston with the Rev. John Goodwin, pastor, officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
