Nature gave New Madrid its Fourth of July fireworks display, not the Chamber of Commerce as planned.

Because of storms and power outages, the annual Independence Day fireworks display was canceled and postponed until July 9. Despite the low number of spectators, the display was great. The 9th turned out to be a perfect day, weather wise for the event.

The Chamber organizes the event but without the following our community would not have one: Jonathan Riggs, Chuck Langley, Jason Ginder, Mike Sansagraw, Reagan Baird, New Madrid Fire Department, New Madrid City Police and New Madrid Street Department. Donations came from Bank of New Madrid, Noranda Aluminum, American Legion Post 595, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, New Madrid County VFW of Lilbourn, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, New Madrid Eagles FOE 4206, Richards Funeral Home, Associated Electric Cooperative, Dr. Rausch and Auto Tire and Parts. The Chamber of Commerce encourages you to support the people who support our community.
