SIKESTON - Registration is now under way for the 2006 Sikeston Corporate Games which will be June 4 - June 24.

The Corporate Games afford local companies a good opportunity for internal team building and company pride through friendly competition with other area companies, Jiggs Moore, Sikeston Parks and Recreation director.

"Winners earn trophies and medals, which look great in the company break room or trophy case," he added. "It's also a chance for the employees of different companies to get to know others in the area's corporate community. Besides that, the Corporate Games are fun!"

There are 15 different events offered - basketball, coed bowling, coed football challenge (punt, pass and kick), coed 8-ball, coed sand volleyball, coed tennis, coed softball, golf, coed aqualympics (rubber raft races, inner tube races, etc.), horseshoes, fishing, coed pyramid relay, coed canoe races, coed tug-of-war and coed team triathlon (3-legged race, sack race, water balloon toss).

"There's something for both jocks and the less athletic to enjoy. The whole thing kicks off with a Corporate Lip Synch Contest," Moore said.

For a $500 entry fee, the cost for entering all 15 events plus the Lip Synch Contest is covered. Smaller companies have the option of paying entry fees for specific events and entering the games on a limited basis. Team points are earned in each of the events by the top six finishers. All companies in the Lip Synch Contest get 5 points automatically just for participating, regardless of how they finish. At the end of the games, the companies with the top three point totals receive team awards.

Companies that would like to get in on the action in this year's Corporate Games can contact Moore at 471-6079 for more information. Entry deadline is Feb. 24.
