Call 471-6636

I just heard on the Today Show that there is always a second act in careers in the United States. Tell me, Mr. Editor, what's the second act after working part time at Wal-Mart or Burger King or the grocery store? What's the second act in this society, Mr. Bottom Line Republican. What crap!

Apparently your second act is calling SpeakOut.

Hooray for Sikeston! Bo's Barbecue is back. This is a Sikeston landmark and we hope it is here to stay. We had breakfast there today and it was great. Hopefully they will open their dining room past 4:00 p.m. so we can dine in the evening. Good things do happen!

This is about politics. I see where people blame President Bush for sending jobs to Mexico. I have done some research, and I'm well educated. I looked into the history of NAFTA-North American Free Trade Agreement, which was voted in in 1994. Clinton was President at the time. Yes, some Republicans did vote for it, so they are not off the hook either. But Clinton could have vetoed it. I understand that's why jobs go down to Mexico. Look it up at www.vancol.com/history-of-nafta It's not Bush. And yes, troops need to come home, but we still need to fight in Iraq, on their land, to keep them from coming over here and taking over our country. Just think where we would have been if we didn't go to Iraq. I shudder to think about that. People forget we are going to be fighting terrorists, probably until the end of time, so we will have to go to war and probably keep some troops in Iraq. I'm female and I would never, ever vote for a female president like Hillary. She's going to raise taxes on us. I'm not rich, and I'm not poor. I'm considered the low end of middle class, the buying class. But she doesn't care for us, she wants to send more people to the poor house and that's not right. I'm for a president who can provide tax cuts and says no to government run health care.

This is for those who think our President allows jobs to go to Mexico. Bill Clinton signed that law into effect, not George Bush. Bill Clinton, therefore, is responsible along with the Democrats for sending these jobs to Mexico. Look it up if you don't believe me.

There's a lady that calls me and leaves a message for Opal and Gerald. Her name is Mary Ann. She talks as if she hasn't heard from them in quite a while. This is the only way I know how to tell you. So let her know she's calling the wrong number.

Mike, you didn't have to go to St. Louis, to Congressman Robert Young, someone who didn't even represent us, in your quest for porkers. Young was a piker of pork compared to the people who represent us. Kit Bond and JoAnn Emerson make him look like Scrooge. Let me quote Emerson in her statement to Roll Call Magazine on being confronted by them for trading her vote for pork spending. "That's the way it's done, isn't it?" The only Missouri politician who does not believe in earmarks is Senator Claire McCaskill, who has no earmarks on any legislation. How about some praise where it is due?
