Thelma Toombs

SIKESTON - Thelma Toombs, 77, formerly of Parma, died Dec. 13, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born May 30, 1928, in Michigan, daughter of the late Thomas and Esther Babcock Tharp, she had attended Murray Lane Baptist Church.

In 1954, in Tupelo, Miss., she married Claude Charles Toombs, who preceded her in death in 1960.

Survivors include: one daughter, Brenda Faye Ogelsby of Memphis, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Michael Toombs of Sikeston and Tracey Phillips of Cape Girardeau.

One son, Wayne Toombs, preceded her in death on June 25, 2000. One brother, Junior Tharp; and one sister, Pauline Baker, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Burial followed in the Essex Cemetery.
