Miner adopts county emergency plan

MINER -- Miner and Scott County should be able to work hand-in-hand during any future emergencies as they are now using the same plan book.

Miner's Board of Aldermen adopted the county's Emergency Operations Plan and Procedures as the city's during their regular meeting Tuesday.

Alderman Justin Medley said Scott County officials have apparently put a lot of time and effort into the county's emergency plan.

"They've got it figured out," he said. "We just need to go along with it."

Mayor Mitch Thompson agreed it is best to go with the county's plan as this will ensure they do things the same way as county officials they would be working with in the event of an emergency.

Medley suggested a copy of the plan should be placed on the city's dispatching desk.

In other business during Tuesday's meeting, the Board accepted the bid from G&D Communications of $968.10 for three radios and three speaker microphones for the public works department.

Dub Higden of the Department of Public Works said the radios are the same type the fire department is equipped with.

Board members also approved a redevelopment request from the Drurys for the area between the Ruby Tuesday restaurant and the Drury Inn.
