SIKESTON - Dr. John Yount of Chicago visited here Sunday with his son, Jack, and family.

MORLEY - A 13-hit Morley attack led by Junior Emerson's three hits and Terry Bell's pitching were enough to hand Sikeston an 8-6 defeat in a tri-county league game last night.

SIKESTON - A special award was given to Danny Overby, who is employed Leonard's Shell Service. The award was a plaque bearing two uncirculated silver dollars, two Kennedy half dollars and a special coin set in an automotive engine design. It was presented to Overby for exceptional customer service.

SIKESTON - Eyes wide with wonderment were seen on children attending the Friday and Saturday evening performances of the Coronas Circus, which was held at the Sikeston Jaycee Rodeo Grounds. The aerial thrill show, as well as the clowns and trick horses, entertained a large crowd.

SIKESTON - Former Sikeston resident Bing Limbaugh donated a check for $1,500 to the Sikeston Little Theatre. Limbaugh, who now resides near Los Angeles, is in his hometown for the Sikeston High School 1957 Class Reunion. Limbaugh is an original founder of the Sikeston Theatre organization.

CHAFFEE - For a while there, it looked like this was going to be too easy. The faithful that followed the Sikeston Junior American Legion baseball team to Chaffee on Thursday were holding their breath for 5 1/2 tense innings. And then Poplar Bluff's Seth Merriman made them exhale. Trailing 2-0 for much of the game, Poplar Bluff scored five runs in its final two at-bats during the opening round of the District. 14 Junior American Legion Tournament and sent Sikeston into the loser's bracket with a 5-2 defeat.

SIKESTON - The Rev. Julius "Brother J" Ketsenburg and his wife, Carolyn, have moved to Sikeston to serve Wesley United Methodist Church and the Bertrand United Methodist Church.
