SIKESTON - Two babies were born at the hospital on Dec. 18. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Reeves of Sikeston and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Houston Worth of Sikeston.

SIKESTON - The Tree of Lights campaign to collect money for toys, candy and fruit for needy children on Christmas approaches. In it final four days, the total collected is about $1,000. The goal is $1,800.

SIKESTON - Santa Claus got some big hugs when he was escorted by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety to the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation Head Start Center Thursday morning. Santa talked to all of the children and gave them each a red Head Start shirt. Parents of Head Start students raised the money for the presents by selling Christmas items and holding a drawing for the turkey.


NEW MADRID - Command Performance, a 24-voice women's a capella choir which will debut this spring, practices together each Monday evening at New Madrid County Central High School. Sherry McDonald, who has traveled throughout the U.S. serving as a director and judge for choruses, is the director.

EAST PRAIRIE - The Cal Walker Band will provide music for the senior citizen dance and supper Friday night at the East Prairie Community Building.
