Cora Hood

SIKESTON -- Cora Lee Hood, 90, formerly of Caruthersville, died Aug. 20, 2007, in Sikeston.

Born June 1, 1917, in Savannah, Tenn., to the late John Kenny and Ada Umphrey Ferrell, she had worked at Brown Shoe Company and was of the Baptist belief.

She married John Hood who preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1989.

Twelve brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Johnnie and Dale Newton of Sikeston; one brother, Robert Ferrell of Savannah; one sister, Etta Louis Motes of Savannah; and one grandson, Michael Newton of Caruthersville.

Services were conducted Thursday at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti. Doug Wahls officiated.

Burial followed in the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were her family and friends.
