Youth in Government Day scheduled

SIKESTON - The city of Sikeston, Sikeston Public Schools and the Sikeston Optimist Club will host the annual Ron Creed Memorial Youth in Government Day on Friday at Sikeston City Hall, 105 E. Center St.

Twenty-nine Sikeston High School students will conduct a mock Council meeting from 11--11:35 a.m. during which they will express their views on whether or not there is a litter problem in the city and, if so, what measures can be undertaken to solve the problem. Specifically, they will be asked if plastic bags provided by the grocery/retail industry should be prohibited within the city.
